What is a brony?
I’m sorry, I usually don’t like to get involved in controversial affairs but this shouldn’t be one. Here on tumblr we have post after post of talented artists and storytellers getting berated, abused, and snuffed out by people who claim to be bronies. People giving up something they love at times because of others who claim to love it hating them.
I am sick of this.
Look, If you dont support how someone chooses to enjoy this show, that is fine and dandy, great even! Opinions are an amazing asset to any group of like-minded people. But don’t you dare hate on them and say you are in the right. To hate someone and to act hatefully towards them is against everything Friendship is Magic is about. You CAN disagree, you can even bring up your disagreement if you a sensitive about it, but to lay siege to their feelings is just cruel.
I don’t like a lot of things people do with My Little Pony and I don’t support the work when I see it. I don’t, however, tell them that they are trash because of these things, I love them all the same. I realize some of this may be from outside sources and I get that this is inevitable on the internet, but the sound of a few clashing symbols should not drown out the message of LOVE AND TOLERANCE we, the brony community, are supposed to represent.
I get that sometimes people do stupid stuff that you may feel with hurt our community, but how do you think raging at them will help? Answer at all times with love for them not only as a fellow fan, but with the common courtesy and respect due to another human being. I don’t like seeing people get in huge arguments in this fandom because it isn’t necessary. So I guess I will stop my rant, but I just honestly want you to hear me out. You don’t need to be mad, you don’t need to be angry at your friends, because regardless of whatever thing that someone else might do that you think may be strange, they are still willing to be your friend. This is why we are here, isn’t it?
Friendship is magic isn’t is just a slogan, it is real. Maybe not in such a literal sense as in the show, but definitely in a solid tangible way. We have shaken the world with love, lets not ruin that now…
